The appointment can be made by a relative or someone acting on behalf of the person coming in to register, such as a friend, Midwife, Funeral Director or Bereavement Officer.

It is very simple to make the appointment and if we are given an email address we will send a confirmation email that the appointment has been made.

It is important to remember that a death should be registered within 5 calendar days from the date of death, in the district where the death took place.

Births are required to be registered within 42 days in the district where the birth took place. Declarations of Birth can be made outside of the district of birth but if the baby is more than 30 days old you will be asked to contact the office that will register the birth due to the delays in the postal system and then possibly the registration.
